There’s so much pressure for newness, but I often question what that means? Does it mean something we don’t already have in our closets? Something that will make us feel like we’re taking risks and moving forward in life? Something that inspires us creatively? The reality is, it’s all three. But pragmatically speaking, when we design, our hand in the way we sketch, our eye in the way we see, is heavily informed by our past. What we loved, what we have memories tethered to, what we reject. Traci and I consider those elements, a natural desire to take what we know and build upon. But like life, nothing can be interpreted in its exactness, because the reality is that things change. We’ve changed. The collection begins with a starting point of classics that are classic for a reason -they’ve stood the test of time. It begins with ideas that resonated with us at a certain time in our lives but now need to be reconsidered and thought through for today. This isn’t about going back in time, it’s about reflecting and recognizing how it’s all come together to inform who we are today - how we dress, style ourselves, express.
